The absolutely dire state of the DC Extended Universe is no secret to movie buffs, the general public, and even the head honchos at Warner Brothers. James Gunn and Peter Safran were tapped earlier this year to basically tear down the existing franchise flop and head up the new DC Universe, and let’s just say … Read more
There’s this term that gets thrown around a lot to describe a certain kind of movie. The kind that, especially now in the summer blockbuster season, you find a lot of. Movies that you just turn your brain off for and have fun, the popcorn flick. I don’t have an inherent problem with the term. … Read more
Seth Rogen’s recent track record with comic book adaptations speaks for itself. The Boys (2019-) is one of the best comic book media out there right now, and while I didn’t love Invincible (2021-), it has more good things going for it than bad. However, both of those feature decidedly adult content, whereas Teenage Mutant … Read more
Let me start off by saying that I have no attachment to Disney’s Haunted Mansion franchise whatsoever. I have not seen the original movie, I have not seen the Muppets special, and I have not been on the Disneyland ride. In fact, the closest I ever got to caring about the IP was when I … Read more
Oppenheimer is not about the atomic bomb. Christopher Nolan’s newest blockbuster is, very simply, about a man. Capital M, capital S. Tom Cruise is one of the best Blockbuster … Read more
I wanted to be a scientist when I was little. I really, really did. When I was in high school, I wanted even more to be a scientist. To maybe find something no one else had found, even if it was as menial as a trivial adjustment to how much energy our long-distance grids can … Read more
Spider-man is about as near and dear to my heart as any fictional character has ever been. While I love a lot of the live action outings, especially Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, none have captured the spirit of the web-slinger more than 2018’s immaculate Into the Spider-verse. When I found out a sequel was … Read more
A serial killer on the prowl discards a body on a wasteland in Kettering. These chilling revelations filter through a radio as Vicky (Claire Rushbrook) prepares for a date. Someone at her door, in black leather gloves, rings the intercom for her door. Number 9. Vicky meets Edgar (Matthew Horne), a landscape gardener. Palm Date … Read more
If you were wondering about the title, this particular phobia is a fear of Friday the 13th, the date, not the franchise. With that out of the way, it should give us a clearer picture of what to expect from this latest episode of Inside No. 9. Gareth Beckman (Reece Shearsmith) has a fear of … Read more
